Victories for England and Japan at the 8th Future-Cup!
Gymnastics legend Janos Sivado: "The world best youth tournament".
(27.11.2011)

The 8th International TGW Austrian Future Cup was a big success. Around 100 gymnasts from 14 countries showed superb youth athleticism at the "Youth World Tournament" yesterday in Linz. The individual victories went to Japan (Kazuki Matsumi, U18) and England (Jay Thompson, U16 and Brian Bevan, U14). The team competition went to the Youth National Team of England. Their members showed the most spectacular and technically proficient skills and have beat the teams from Japan and Hungary, which got the 2nd and 3rd place.

The individual winners throughout all age groups showed a solid performance. Kazuki Matsumi (JPN), the U18 winner, was victorious in spite of his small body heigt comparing to his opponents. Behind him it was a close match between William Trood (ENG) and Hervé Raharolahy (FRA). In the group U16 and U14 the winners took their victories in an impressive manner. Jay Thompson (ENG), U16-winner, gets his title with a 2 point lead while Brinn Bevan (ENG), U14-winner, won with a narrow margin of only 4 points. The podium completes in the U16 group of Veliko Tushev (BUL) and Norbert Dudas (HUN). The second and third place of the U14 group were taken by Joe Fraser (ENG) und Botond Kardos (HUN).

The home team from Austria presented themselves in good way with the 6th place behind Great Britain, Japan and Hungary. Severin Kranzlmüller was able to take a place on the podium in the U18 group until he missed the last element of the last apparatus, the floor, which moved him back to the 4th place. In the category U16, Daniel Kopeinik achieved the 14th place and young Paul Hagan put himself in the 6th place.

The all around event organizer chief Helmut Kranzlmüller felt this was more than a sporting success. The premiere in the new venue, the TipsArena were a big risk for the organisers, but all said it was the right descision. The Future-Cup 2011 would be a show case for all other gymnastics events in Austria. The local audience thanked the team with an appearance of nearly 800 people. All the participants were enthusiastic about the event as they said "This is the best organized, sympathic and in the same time the most athletic friendly meeting I have ever seen!"

The international TGW Future Cup presented at its 8th edition again for the future of gymnastics. The audience was witness to the stunning performances of many highly talented gymnasts, who are actively making their way toward the Olympic games. Among the different age groups viewers were able to watch the developing skills of the gymnasts from the youngest age group to the elite class, like photography, which normally takes many years of trainings. It is always fascinating to see how many "tricks" are shown by even the youngest at the competition. Even 11 or 12 year olds completed impressive double somersaults, Tsukoharas and astonishing power elements. In the "oldest" age group under 18 years it is clear they will compete successfully in the seniors’ classes. They showed artistic gymnastics on a full senior’s level.
